Back To Basics
There is something comforting about returning to the basics. It helps realign our hearts, refocus our thoughts, and remind us of what truly matters.
Recently, God has been drawing my attention back to the Fruits of the Spirit. These qualities serve as a foundation for our faith and a reminder of how He calls us to live each day. Whenever I find myself feeling distracted or off course, coming back to these truths helps me reconnect with God's purpose and direction.
To help others do the same, I created a Fruits of the Spirit Journal that you can find in the Resources section. It's a simple tool to revisit whenever you need encouragement, reflection, or a spiritual reset. Best of all, it's completely free.
Each fruit of the spirit is represented by a specific fruit. Here are what they are and why I decided to use them.
Love - Strawberry π
Strawberries are heart-shaped and often symbolize love and affection.
Theyβre sweet, bright, and often shared β much like love, which is outwardly shown and shared with others.
Joy - Pineapple π
Pineapples have a bright, tropical vibe β they bring to mind celebration, warmth, and happiness.
Joy is something that stands out and spreads, just like the pineappleβs unique appearance.
Peace - Pear π
Pears are smooth, soft, and gentle in flavor.
Their balanced, calming nature fits the idea of peace β not loud or showy, but quiet and steady.
Patience - Banana π
Bananas take time to ripen β if you rush, it will be bitter or too hard.
Itβs a perfect symbol for patience: good things take time, and you have to wait for the right moment.
Kindness - Mango π₯
Mangos are rich, sweet, and satisfying - theyβre often shared with others.
Kindness, like mango, makes life sweeter and is best when shared generously.
Goodness - Apple π
Apples are classic symbols of wholesomeness and goodness (think: βan apple a dayβ¦β).
They represent integrity and the idea of something being good through and through.
Faithfulness - Grapes π
Grapes grow in clusters β they stay together, representing loyalty and commitment.
They also symbolize faithfulness over time, as vineyards require consistent care and endurance.
Gentleness - Peach π
Peaches have soft skin and a tender inside β gentle to the touch and sweet in taste.
Gentleness, like a peach, is about strength wrapped in softness.
Self-Control - Lemon π
Lemons are strong and sour β you have to control your reaction to their intensity.
They also symbolize cleansing and discipline β using something sharp in a balanced way, like self-control in life.
